SMOKE. OUR TEAM COVERAGE CONTINUES WITH ED WEINSTOCK. THE WILDFIRE HAS ALREADY FORCED THE EVACUATION OF A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THIS AREA. PEOPLE MILES AWAY ARE SCARED. PAM HAMILTON IS HOPING SHE WON’T HAVE TO LEAVE HER HOME. LAST NIGHT SHE TOOK PHOTOS OF THE FIRE IN THE DARKNESS. IT APPEARS TO BE CLOSE TO HER HOME, EVEN THOUGH IT IS REALLY A WAYS OFF. IT’S VERY SCARY. JUST THE WIND. WE DON’T KNOW WHICH WAY THE WINDS ARE GOING. WHO? WHICH WAY IT MIGHT BE GOING NEXT. HAMILTON KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED TO PEOPLE IN THE WESTERN STATES DURING RECENT FIRES OUT THERE, AND SHE SAYS SHE’S WORRIED ABOUT HER NEIGHBORS THINKING ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT MAY HAVE LOST THEIR HOMES TO COME BACK TO NOTHING. WHERE WE ARE STANDING, WE CAN’T SEE ANY FIRE OR SMELL ANY SMOKE, BUT IT’S CLEAR THE DANGER IS ON MANY PEOPLE’S MIND

People who live near wildfires in Michaux State Forest in Cumberland County are watching, waiting

Some residents who live near the wildfires in Michaux State Forest in Cumberland County are being urged to evacuate.The following areas are under a voluntary evacuation recommendation:Shippensburg Road from Whitmer Road to Thompson Hollow Road (aka Forest Road)Whitmer Road between Thompson Hollow Road and Ivy LaneEven those who live outside that area fear they may soon have to leave.Pam Hamilton is hoping she can stay but said she has started putting things in her car, just in case.She took photos of the fire on Thursday night. In the darkness, it appears to be close to her home even though it is really a ways off."It's very scary. The wind, we don't know where the wind is going or which way it might be going next," she said.Hamilton knows what happened to people in the western states during recent fires, and she's worried about her neighbors."I am thinking about the people that may have lost their homes to come back to nothing," she said.
